Peelable Solder Mask
Content in this article
A peelable solder mask, also known as temporary solder mask or peelable mask, is a special type of solder mask that can be peeled off the circuit board after the soldering process. Unlike conventional solder masks, which are firmly bonded to the circuit board, the peelable solder mask is flexible and can be easily removed.
Application
Peelable solder masks are typically used in situations where additional work needs to be done on the solder joints after soldering, such as attaching wire bridges, repairing solder connections, or adding components. By peeling off the solder mask, these tasks can be performed more easily and quickly, as no additional step is required to remove the mask.
Advantages
The use of a peelable solder mask offers various advantages. It enables efficient repair and modification of solder connections without the need for additional cleaning or removal steps. This can shorten work time and increase production throughput. Furthermore, the peelable solder mask reduces the risk of damage or contamination to the circuit board during the removal process compared to other methods such as scraping or chemical removal of the solder mask.
Manufacturing
Peelable solder masks are applied to the circuit board in a similar manner to conventional solder masks. They are applied over the desired areas that are not intended for soldering, forming a protective layer. During the soldering process, the solder melts and adheres to the pads and traces, while the peelable solder mask retains its flexibility.
